CASHMERE

Cashmere is created at the top of the world, where icy winds and extremely low temperatures shape one of the world’s most exclusive fibers.
Cashmere is, therefore, the result of a simultaneously harsh and fragile environment and consequently a naturally scarce resource, largely restricted by the extreme climatic conditions of its specific geographical area of production (largely Mongolia and neighboring regions of China).
As Cashmere goat flocks expand, overgrazing is quickly eroding the grasslands where they live and therefore living environments are degraded or lost and endangered wildlife, such as the argali, saiga tatarica, snow leopards, etc., is frequently under pressure or even on the brink of extinction.
All the Cashmere used in GREENCASH is entirely recycled from post-consumer knitwear and therefore, not only doesn't add further pressure on these fragile habitats but also significantly reduces product waste.
Besides, the Cashmere fibers we use are already dyed when we recycled them and thus we don't have to go right through the dyeing operation, the most polluting as well as the most energy and water consuming production stage.
