EXTRA-FINE WOOL
Like Cashmere, Extra-fine Wool has some fantastic properties, such as:
- It's 100% natural, consuming nothing else than sunlight, water, and grass!
- It's 100% biodegradable as it naturally decomposes in the soil in a few years, returning nutrients back into the earth.
- It's 100% renewable as every year the sheep produce more of it.
Besides, Wool is naturally breathable and fire, odor, UV and wrinkle resistant.
In spite of all that, the massive worldwide recent increase in demand for Wool on the one hand, and the last few years of drought in Australia (world's largest producer) on the other hand, are exerting an increasing and excessive environmental pressure on production, which is not likely to be sustainable over the medium to long-term horizons.
All the Extra-fine Wool used in GREENCASH is entirely recycled from post-consumer knitwear and therefore, not only doesn't add further pressure on the Wool production but also significantly reduces product waste.
Moreover, the Extra-fine Wool fibers we use are already dyed when we recycled them and thus we don't have to go right through the dyeing operation, the most polluting as well as the most energy and water consuming production stage.
